Qualification postponed in Titisee-Neustadt on the largest hill ever

Jan 29, 2021·Ski Jumping
Difficult weather conditions

For the Women’s World Cup, Titisee-Neustadt in Germany is the first Large Hill in this season and definitely the largest ever. Ready to compete on this Hochfirstschanze hill of 142m, 57 women were jumping this afternoon. The rain was quite strong but this didn’t prevent the athletes to enjoy the hill for the first training round. Due to the strong wind and weather conditions, the jury decided to cancel the second training round and the qualification was postponed until tomorrow.

Postponed to 16.30 already because of difficult weather conditions, the first training was nevertheless carried out smoothly. Current leader Austrian Marita Kramer fell after landing but remained the best in the first (and only fully completed) training round with a jump of 136 m but the longest jump was posted by Slovenian Nika Kriznar with 143.5 m.

The third place went to Japanese Sara Takanashi ahead of a strong Norwegian team, composed by last week winner Eirin Maria Kvandal, and her teammates Maren Lundby and Silje Opseth.

The second training round was cancelled after bib Nr 47,  Ito Yuki  from Japan,  performed her second training jump. Before it was interrupted, French Josephine Pagnier was in the lead with 125 m.

The first individual competition in Titisee-Neuestad starts on Saturday at 13.45 CET, (qualification 12.15 CET). The second competition follows on Sunday at 13.15 CET (qualification 12.00 CET).
