Ski Jumping World Cup - Sapporo had to cancel
Nov 13, 2020·Ski JumpingThe Covid-19 pandemic is causing problems for the ski jumpers, even before the season has started. All events at the beginning of the season are confirmed, but the ski jumpers will not be competing in Sapporo (JPN) this winter.
Both, the women's (January 9th and 10th) and the men's (February 6th and 7th) competitions had to be canceled.
"This was not an easy decision for us, but due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases on Hokkaido and especially in Sapporo, we had no other choice. We would have loved to host the competitions in 2021, but under the current circumstances we are not able to guarantee the health of the athletes", the Japanese Ski Association explained in a statement.
The FIS is looking for replacement venues for the men's and women's World Cups on the two weekends in January and February.
