More than a year after his last appearance in the World Cup, Norway's Thomas Aasen Markeng will make his comeback this weekend in Zakopane.

The 2019 Junior World Champion sustained an ACL tear when he crashed in December 2019 and was able to start with jumping training again last October after a long break due to this injury. Last weekend, Thomas Aasen Markeng won both domestic competitions in Vikersund and earned his spot on the World Cup team.

"He won twice this weekend and jumped 120 m there. This means that the knee is okay again. Thomas is healthy and it's nice to have him back on the team", head coach Alexander Stoeckl is quoted on the website of the Norwegian Ski Association.

"This was a very nice weekend. Before Saturday I was a bit nervous, but I had good jumps, and then also the self-confidence returned", the 20-year-old said about his comeback. "The way back had many ups and downs, it was a difficult and challenging time, but I also learned a lot. Being back in the World Cup will be very exciting, after all, I wasn't competing for 13 months."

Johann Andre Forfang, Halvor Egner Granerud, Robert Johansson, Marius Lindvik, and Daniel Andre Tande will also be on the Norwegian team for the World Cup in Poland.
