The second women's training in the Zhangjiakou National Ski Jumping Centre of Beijing was held in freezing temperatures of -20°C. A day before the first Ski Jumping medal event of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games the favorites are now clear.

In absence of the two former Olympic champions, Carina Vogt (GER/2014 in Sochi) and Maren Lundby (NOR/2018 in PyeongChang), three Slovenians, Japan's Yuki Ito and Sara Takanashi, and Germany's Katharina Althaus are the top contenders for gold, silver, and bronze.

In the first training round today, Katharina Althaus was clearly the best. The Oberstdorf-native then decided to skip the second jump.
In the second round, Ursa Bogataj (SLO) had the best jump. Besides Bogataj, her teammates Nika Kriznar and Ema Klinec are also among the top favorites.

But big surprises are also possible in the third women's Ski Jumping competition at Olympic Games. After their performances so far this winter and in the training jumps in Beijing, Sweden's Frida Westman and Josephine Pagnier of France might have a chance to provide such a surprise.

The women's Olympic competition starts on Saturday at 11:45 am CET.
