Antti Aalto Finnish national champion, Janne Ahonen comes in third

The Finnish national Ski Jumping Championships were held on Sunday on the large hill in Lahti. The title there went to Antti Aalto, Ski Jumping legend Janne Ahonen came in third in this competition on his home hill.

Antti Aalto was already in the lead after the first round with his 121 m jump, with 122.5 m, he then also posted the longest jump in the final and so the 26-year-old took the win with a total of 243.3 points.
The second place went to Eetu Nousiainen, who jumped on 119 m and 119.5 m and scored 231.1 points.

Local hero Janne Ahonen, who has already caused a lot of stir when he announced that he was planning to compete in the nationals a couple of weeks ago, was sixth after the first half of the competition with 110 m. His second jump of 116 m then earned the 44-year-old two-time overall World Cup champion who retired in 2018 a total of 206.8 points and with that he could move up to third overall.

Kasperi Valto, Arttu Pohjola, and Vilho Palosaari finished in fourth, fifth and sixth.

The women's competition was won by Jenny Rautionaho with 103.5 m and 115.5 m and 186.3 points, followed by Julia Kykkaenen (100 m and 96 m; 141.4 points) and Julia Tervahartiala (88 m and 88 m; 99.9 points).
