COC-M: First win for Sondre Ringen

Also on the second day of the Continental Cup in Engelberg (SUI), an athlete of the Norwegian team could celebrate the victory. After Benjamin Oestvold stood on top of the podium on Monday evening, his teammate Sondre Ringen then took the first place on Tuesday afternoon.
In difficult weather conditions, which also lead the many interruptions of the competition, the 25-year-old posted jumps of 128.5 m and 127 m and after finishing tenth yesterday he came in first today with 272.4 points and secured his first win in the Continental Cup. "I've waited a long time for this win. Actually this hill doesn't really suit me very well, but this win shows me that I can also handle this type of hill", Ringen said.
Behind the winner, the second and third place went to Austria. Clemens Aigner was in the lead after the first half of the competition with the longest jump of the day of 140 m, in the end, the 28-year-old finished second overall with 115.5 m in the final round and 270.7 points. It's his first podium this season.
With 135 m and 117.5 m and 267.6 points, the third place on the Titlis-hill today went to Michael Hayboeck. The Austrian had to undergo surgery in fall due to a herniated disk and after he was sidelined for a while the Continental Cup in Engelberg was his first appearance this winter.
Norway's Soelve Jokerud Strand came in on a career-best fourth place, Thomas Lackner and Stefan Rainer were fifth and eighth and together with Aigner and Hayboeck they provided a strong team result of the Austrians.
The two Slovenes Jan Bombek and Zak Mogel finished in sixth and seventh place, the best German ski jumpers in this event were Philipp Raimund, David Siegel, and Kilian Maerkl on the place nine to eleven.
Ulrich Wohlgenannt, who is not competing in Engelberg, was still able to defend his overall lead in the COC with 360 points. After his win today, Sondre Ringen is now second with 321 points, followed by Thomas Lackner in third (297 points).
