COC-M: Mika Schwann takes maiden win in Frenstat

The second competition of the Continental Cup in Frenstat (CZE) ended with a premiere: For the first time, Austria's Mika Schwann stood on top of the podium in a COC event.

The 22-year-old from Carinthia, who has already presented himself in very strong shape with the second place on Saturday evening, took the win on the HS 106 normal hill with jumps of 104.5 m and 102.5 m, which earned him a total of 250.6 points.

After Viktor Polasek provided the highlight for the hosting team with his win in the first competition of the weekend, another Czech athlete was among the very best also on Sunday. Exactly seven points behind the winner, Cestmir Kozisek finished second with his jumps of 104 m and 102.5 m.

Behind the Polish veteran Maciej Kot, who came in third with 106 m and 99.5 m (243.5 points), Viktor Polasek could show another top performance as well. The winner of the first competition in Frenstat was fourth this time and completed a top result for the Czech team in front of their home crowd.

It was also a successful day for Markus Mueller of Austria and Estonia's Kevin Maltsev: They were able to finish in fifth and sixth and both achieved the best result of their careers in the Continental Cup.
Eetu Nousiainen of Finland could defend the overall lead in the COC with the seventh place in this competition.  With 238 points, he now has a lead of 22 points over today's winner Mika Schwann, who is second overall.

The best Norwegian today was Robin Pedersen in eighth, the best jumper of the German team was David Siegel in 12th, he came in narrowly ahead of Fatih Arda Ipcioglu of Turkey, who showed a strong performance and ended up 13th.

The next two Continental Cup competitions will be held in Rasnov (ROU) next weekend.
