COC-W: Katharina Althaus once again unbeatable
Sep 19, 2021·Ski JumpingKatharina Althaus was the outstanding athlete of the women's Continental Cup this weekend in Oslo (NOR). Like already on Saturday, the 25-year-old was also by far the best jumper on the Midtstubakken also on Sunday.
With jumps of 104 m and 103.5 m and 278.8 points, the Oberstdorf-native won with a lead of more than 50 points over the next best athlete for the second time in a row. "It was another good competition for me and I'm really happy about my victory. It's great to stand on the podium again with a teammate. It's good for me to know that I can win and show good jumps in the competition", said the dominating athlete of this weekend.
Althaus' teammate Pauline Hessler was also able to repeat her strong result from Saturday. With 103.5 m and 99 m and 224.4 points, she secured the 1-2 finish for Germany on Sunday morning.
Hannah Wiegele of Austria posted jumps of 98.5 m and 101 m on the HS 106 hill and, after finishing sixth yesterday, she came in third this time with 219.3 points and stood on the podium for the first time this summer.
Jenny Rautionaho of Finland confirmed her currently very good shape and repeated her fourth place from the day before, behind her, two more German jumpers came in among the best with Juliane Seyfarth in fifth and Anna Rupprecht in sixth.
The seventh place went to Anna Shpyneva of Russia, the Top 10 were completed by Frida Westmann of Sweden (8th), Ksenia Kablukova of Russia (9th), and Poland's Kamila Karpiel (10th).
This second competition in Oslo was the final one of the women's Continental Cup in the 2021 summer season. The two Austrian's Julia Muehlbacher and Hannah Wiegele are tied for first with 230 points. China's Bing Dong follows in third with 207 points.
