Poland's Dawid Kubacki won the final Ski Jumping qualification of summer 2021 on Friday evening. On the HS 140 hill in Klingenthal (GER), Kubacki jumped on 137 m, Slovenia's Anze Lanisek and Japan's Yukiya Sato followed in second and third.

Behind the Top 3, Marius Lindvik (NOR), Gregor Deschwanden (SUI), Karl Geiger (GER), and Halvor Egner Granerud came in on the place 4 - 8. Halvor Egner Granerud has already secured the overall title of the Grand Prix 2021, because Austri's Jan Hoerl is not competing in Klingenthal due to a cold and a death in the family.

Switzerland's Gregor Deschwanden skipped both training rounds because he had to take a virtual exam and arrived at the hill late. "I was extremely nervous to jump here with a training. It was really close, there was a lot of traffic on the way to the hill and so I was lucky that I made it to the start on time", explained the Swiss, who achieved his first podium earlier this summer in Courchevel.

Besides Karl Geiger, also Andreas Wellinger (10th) and Constantin Schmid (13th) achieved strong results for Germany. The Russian team was strong again as well with the places 11, 12, and 17 by Evgeniy Klimov, Danil Sadreev, and Roman Trofimov.

On the other hand, it was a bad day for the Austrians: Not only that Jan Hoerl wasn't competing, but Michael Hayboeck also could not jump today due to back problems, and Stefan Kraft was disqualified because his suit was not compliant with the rules. At the end of the day, Philipp Aschenwald was the only Austrian with a convincing performance in ninth.

The final competition of the FIS Grand Prix 2021 will start on Saturday at 2:15 pm CET.
