May 31, 2021·Ski JumpingDr. Peter Kruijer of the ski club Oberstdorf is the new president of the 4-Hills-Tournament. The chairmen of the ski clubs in Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck, and Bischofshofen named the 63-year-old the successor of Johann Pichler (Bischofshofen), who was president for the past three years. At the same time, the office of the 4-Hills-Tournament moves from Bischofshofen to Oberstdorf.
"I'm really looking forward to the task and I'm aware of the responsibility, as the 4-Hills-Tournament is the top event in winter sports", explained Dr. Kruijer, when Pichler handed over the 4-Hills eagle during the symbolic transfer of office.
Together with Michael Maurer (ski club Partenkirchen) and Alfons Schranz (sports club Bergisel), Dr. Kruijer thanked his predecessor Johann Pichler and his wife Erika for their valuable work over the past years. "You dealt with all kinds of challenges and worked well within the team. The bar is very high, but this is extra motivation for us in Oberstdorf", said Dr. Kruijer.
Dr. Peter Kruijer will be the second chairman of the SC Oberstdorf leading the 4-Hills-Tournament in its almost 70-year long history. Pe Horle was president of the 4-Hills-Tournament from 2006 to 2010. The office of the 4-Hills-Tournament was located in Oberstdorf from 2006 to 2015.
Like his predecessor, Dr. Peter Kruijer also has a lot of experience. The 63-year-old is chairman of the SC Oberstdorf since 2015 and since then he is not only the head of the organizing committee of the opening event of the 4-Hills-Tournament but also of many other World Cups in Oberstdorf, like e.g. in Ski Flying, women's Ski Jumping or at the Tour de Ski. His career at the 4-Hills-Tournament already started in 1974, when the then 17-year-old was volunteering at the event as a member of the local fire brigade. Dr. Kruijer was also working at three Nordic World Championships and Ski Flying World Championships, 1987 he even had two jobs: in the mornings as a judge in cross country skiing, and in the afternoons and doctor in the Ski Jumping stadium.
