First trainings at the Olympic Games

The Olympic Winter Games 2022 in Beijing started for the ski jumpers already a day before the official opening ceremony with the first training rounds on the normal hill in Zhangjiakou (CHN).

In the men's training, Austrian veteran Manuel Fettner had the perfect start with the best jump in the first round of 101 m. He was followed by Kamil Stoch (102.5 m), Cene Prevc (99.5 m), and Stefan Kraft (102 m).

In the second round on the new HS 106 normal hill, Halvor Egner Granerud of Norway was the best athlete with 103.5 m, Daniel Huber had the longest jump of the day with 106 m and came in second. Robert Johansson was third with 101 m, Stefan Kraft repeated was fourth again, this time with 98.5 m.

Russia's Evgeniy Klimov surprised with the best jump of the third round of 101.5 m. Halvor Egner Granerud jumped on 104.5 m and presented himself in strong shape once again. The two Slovenes Peter Prevc (102 m) and Lovro Kos (101 m) also showed strong performance and came in among the best of this round.

In the women's training, Sara Takanashi had the longest jump of the first round with 104 m. The Slovenian showed a great team performance with Ursa Bogataj (102 m), Nika Kriznar (99 m), and Ema Klinec (98 m) in second, fourth, and fifth. Katharina Althaus came in third with 98.5 m.

The second round was dominated by the Slovenian jumpers. Nika Kriznar (103 m) and Ursa Bogataj (99 m) came in first and second ahead of Sara Takanashi (100 m), Spela Rogelj showed the longest jump of the first women's training session with 105 m.

Sara Takanashi then secured the top spot again in the final round with 102 m. Behind Nika Kriznar (96.5 m) and Yuki Ito (97.5 m), Frida Westman of Sweden (98 m) surprised with a top result.

The next two trainings on the new Olympic hill will be held on Friday at 4 am CET (women) and 7 am CET (men).
