Halvor Egner Granerud and Ryoyu Kobayashi share the win in Lahti
Feb 27, 2022·Ski JumpingHalvor Egner Granerud of Norway and Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi tied for the win in the World Cup in Lahti (FIN) on Sunday evening with 278.0 points. The third place went to Austria's Stefan Kraft. With this win, Ryoyu Kobayashi also took the yellow bib of the overall World Cup leader from Karl Geiger.
"It's an amazing result. I knew it would be close already when I landed because I landed right on the green line so it was exciting to wait for the result. Then my name was shown below Ryoyu, so there was one second of disappointment, then I realized I was first. I think it's quite rare that we have shared victories. It's just amazing to be back on top of the podium again", Granerud said after his success.
Ryoyu Kobayashi said: "I'm so happy because my last jump today was really good and I'm satisfied with the performance. I worked hard and I'm happy about this win."
Halvor Egner Granerud has now won 13 World Cup competitions, Ryoyu Kobayashi has 27th wins now, for both it was the first win in Lahti. Granerud stood on top of the podium twice so far this winter, Kobayashi eight times.
After two wins on Friday and Saturday (Team), Stefan Kraft was on the podium in Lahti for the third time in a row. "It was a perfect weekend for me. I always enjoy jumping here, it's a magical place for me. We will go directly to Norway now for the RAW AIR, then we have the Ski Flying World Championships in Vikersund, there's still a lot to do this season and I'm happy that I'm in good shape", he said.
Ulrich Wohlgenannt of Austria was fourth today and achieved his third top result this weekend: Sixth on Friday, a win with the team of Saturday, and fourth today in the final event in Lahti were a lot of reasons to celebrate for Wohlgenannt. It was an amazing weekend for the 27-year-old.
Only 0.1 points behind Wohlgenannt, Karl Geiger was fifth this evening, Manuel Fettner, Dawid Kubacki, and Markus Eisenbichler came in sixth, seventh, and eight. After his strong performance in yesterday's team competition, Ziga Jelar presented himself in great shape again, he was the best Slovene in ninth. Cene Prevc finished tenth.
Ryoyu Kobayashi now took the lead in the overall World Cup again with 1322 points, Geiger is second with 1279 points, and Granerud third (1090 points).
The World Cup already continues on Wednesday (qualification) and Thursday (competition) in Lillehammer (NOR) with the first event of the RAW AIR Tour.
