Jan Hoerl

Austria's Jan Hoerl won the qualification for the Ski Jumping World Cup in Wisla (POL) on Friday evening. The 23-year-old finished ahead of Karl Geiger (GER) and Norway's Marius Lindvik.

Last weekend, Hoerl was also leading in the qualification in Ruka, but back then the last jumper, Karl Geiger, got ahead of him, this time he came out and won the prize money of CHF 3000.--. "I'm extremely happy, this is the first qualification that I could win. My jump was very good, I'll try to build on that. I have already achieved good results here in summer and I'm very motivated for the next two days", Hoerl explained after his success.

World Cup leader Karl Geiger came in second and also his teammates achieved strong results: Pius Paschke was fourth, Andreas Wellinger also showed a convincing performance and finished eighth.
Evgeniy Klimov, who took his first World Cup win in Wisla 2018, was strong fifth, Naoki Nakamura (JPN) tied for sixth with Cene Prevc (SLO).
For the Polish team, it didn't as they would have wished today, but at least Kamil Stoch could finish tenth. Jakub Wolny was 19th, Piotr Zyla and Andrzej Stekala came in 20th and 22nd.

This was the qualification for the individual competition on Sunday, the first event in Wisla will be the team event at 4:30 pm CET on Saturday. The weather forecast predicts difficult wind conditions for the team competition.
