This Monday, Michael Hayboeck was diagnosed with a herniated disc, the Austrian underwent surgery on the same day in Innsbruck.
The 30-year-old has been struggling with back problems for a while, already two years ago he was sidelined during summer. This time the pain started shortly before the competitions in Hinzenbach and Klingenthal.

While Michael Hayboeck was still able to compete in Hinzenbach, it was not possible for him to participate in the FIS Grand Prix final last weekend in Klingenthal as the pain got too strong right after his arrival there.
On Monday, Dr. Michael Gabi then diagnosed the herniated disc and Hayboeck had successful surgery on that same afternoon. The Austrian now wants to return to training and the World Cup as soon as possible.

Statements:
Michael Hayboeck: “Right after the surgery I noticed that the pain was gone. I was even able to walk around the hospital room again pain-free. That’s why I’m very optimistic that I won’t have problems with my back anymore in the future. I’ve been in pain from time to time recently and last weekend I was barely able to lay down or stand. This was probably a good thing, in the end.”

Dr. Michael Gabi: “The herniated disc was diagnosed in a medical examination on Monday. He already had numbness in his left leg at that point. The surgery went very well and there’s already a schedule for his return to training. He should be able to start again soon.”
