Ryoyu Kobayashi wins qualification in Hinzenbach

Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi won the qualification for the FIS Grand Prix 2021 in Hinzenbach (AUT) on Friday evening. The 2019/20 overall World Cup champion was jumping very well on the HS 90 hill in Hinzenbach right from the start today.

In the qualification, he posted a jump of 90.5 m (130.2 points), after he landed at 89 m and 91 m in the training rounds. With this performance, the 25-year-old took the win today ahead of Slovenia's Anze Lanisek (88.5 m; 129.2 points) and Karl Geiger of Germany (88 m; 128.1 points).

The best of the local heroes was Stefan Kraft in fourth, Yukiya Sato confirmed the strong shape of the Japanese jumpers in fifth. Markus Schiffner, Andreas Wellinger, and Cene Prevc came in sixth, seventh and eighth, followed by the two Austrians Philipp Aschenwald and Michael Hayboeck.

After a long break, US American Kevin Bickner is competing again, the 23-year-old made the cut for the competition on Saturday. The competition in Hinzenbach, the second-to-last of this year's FIS Grand Prix, starts on Saturday at 3:30 pm CET.
