Ski Jumping championships in Germany and Japan

Towards the end of the summer season, the German and Japanese Ski Jumping championships were held recently in Oberhof and Sapporo.

On the normal hill in Oberhof, Karl Geiger was the best in both rounds and took the German national title with his jumps of 105 m and 107.5 m and a total of 303.6 points.
With 101 m and 103 m and 290.3 points, the second place went to Stephan Leyhe, for whom this result will be a boost of the self-confidence just a few weeks before the start of the new season after he had to miss the entire last winter due to an injury. Constantin Schmid came in third with 100 m and 101 m and 277.4 points.
Right behind the podium, Philipp Raimund, Pius Paschke, Markus Eisenbichler, and Andreas Wellinger followed on the places four to seven.

In the women's competition, Katharina Althaus was in a league of her own with 100.5 m and 95.5 m, and 364.8 points. Clearly behind the winner, Juliane Seyfarth finished second with 94.5 m and 99 m and 327.2 points, Selina Freitag was third with 312.5 points (94.5 m and 96 m).

In Japan, Ryoyu Kobayashi, who presented himself in strong shape recently in the FIS Grand Prix, won both national championships. On the normal hill in Sapporo, he claimed the title with 92 m and 97 m and 255.8 points, Keiichi Sato, who posted jumps of 94 m and 89 m and scored 236.7 points came in second. The third place went to Junshiro Kobayashi with 93 m and 88.5 m and 234.0 points.

Ryoyu Kobayashi took another clear win on the large hill with 141.5 m and 137 m and 296.0 points. Yukiya Sato, who was eighth on the normal hill, came in second this time with 277.7 points (142 m and 136 m). Junshiro Kobayashi was able to repeat the third place with 125 m and 128 m and 256.1 points.

In the women's events, both titles went to Sara Takanashi. With two jumps of 90.5 m and 236.1 points, she took the win on the normal hill ahead of Nozomi Maruyama (96.5 m and 87.5 m; 235.8 points) and Yuki Ito (99 m and 83 m; 231.0 points).

She then secured her second win with 115 m and 129.5 m and 235.5 points on the large hill. In this competition, she was followed by Yuki Ito (126 m and 116 m; 223.2 points) and Yuka Kobayashi (119 m and 117.5 m; 194.8 points).
