Stephan Leyhe: Comeback in Wisla

Stephan Leyhe

More than a year after his crash at the World Cup in Trondheim in March 2020, Stephan Lehye will be competing for the first time again this weekend.
Alongside Karl Geiger, Markus Eisenbichler, Severin Freund, Constantin Schmid, and Andreas Wellinger the 29-year-old was named to the German team for the Grand Prix opener in Wisla (POL).

"The comeback of Stephan Leyhe is a very special moment for all of us. He was extremely professional during his 16-months long break due to the injury and rehabilitation and, after solid performances in training, he is now ready to start competing again. Stephan doesn't have to achieve something special, after this long break he should just get the feeling of competition again", said head coach Stefan Horngacher.

After such a long break, the Willingen-native is obviously looking forward to the event in Wisla: "I've been eagerly anticipating this upcoming weekend for a long time. I'm really looking forward to my comeback in Wisla, where I have achieved great results in the past. I feel ready, I'm fit and well prepared to compete again after long 16 months. I was missing everything and everyone, Ski Jumping is my life. I don't feel any pressure when it comes to results, I just want to show my training performances also in the competitions. Then I'll see where I stand in this international field and what I will be working on in the future."
