Only a few months after his comeback as a ski jumper last summer, the former 4-Hills-Tournament winner is now retiring and will start his new job as assistant coach of the Austrian women's team.

The 29-year-old will work with the first training group of the Austrian Ski Association around World Cup leader Marita Kramer alongside head coach Harald Rodlauer from now on.

Diethart, who won silver in the team competition at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, started his coaching career in 2018 with the ski club in Absam, 2019 he was working with the Tyrolean Ski Association before he started working with the Bavarian Ski Association in 2020. There he was working with athletes in Oberstdorf and also as an assistant coach of the German D and C Teams. After his comeback as a ski jumper last summer, Diethart will now continue on his path as a coach.

At the same time, the Austrian Ski Association announced that the contract with former assistant coach Romed Moroder, who was working together with Harald Rodlauer since April 2019, was terminated by mutual consent because of Moroder's refusal to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

Thomas Diethart: "My comeback last summer was important to find closure from my career as a ski jumper. In addition, it was also a learning process, I was able to get up to date again with the jumping technique and this will now help me right away with my new job. I'm looking forward to working with Harald Rodlauer and the women's Ski Jumping team."

Harald Rodlauer: "I want to thank my long-time assistant coach Romed Moroder for the great cooperation. Unfortunately, the situation right now is the way it is and I fully understand that. I'm also looking forward to working with Thomas Diethart, you can tell that he is enthusiastic about the task. The most important thing is that we continue on the successful path with and for our athletes together."
