Marita Kramer won the first women's competition on the Muehlenkopf-hill in Willingen (GER) on Saturday. In difficult conditions with gusty wind, a 123.5 m jump was enough for the World Cup leader to take the win, after the jury decided to end the competition after the first round and so the result of the first round became official. The second and third place went to Katharina Althaus (GER) and Ema Klinec (SLO).

Their first competition on the HS 147 hill in Willingen was a difficult one for the athletes today. Changing and gusty winds were a challenge for everyone involved. After one round with lots of interruptions, the jury decided to cancel the second round and so the result of the first round was also the final result today.

Austria's Marita Kramer was a bit surprised by her own win after the sudden end: "I made a mistake in my jump that I really wanted to avoid, I was very late at the take-off. I was already mentally preparing for the second round and I was surprised that the second round was canceled. I'm very satisfied with my win today, even though this was a bit of a strange competition, but that happens sometimes. My jump was okay, but I was very late at the take-off. Hopefully, the conditions will be better tomorrow and we can have a good competition with two rounds", said Marita Kramer. It was already the 14th World Cup win for the 21-year-old. Kramer could further extend her lead in the overall World Cup, she now leads with 870 points, followed by Katharina Althaus (618 points).

Katharina Althaus was happy about her second place: "It was not an easy day for us, but I'm happy that it went that well for me. My jump was not perfect, but I saw that I was close to the green line so I was happy right away. It was a difficult start for us here in Willingen and it went well for me. I hope we can have two jumps tomorrow", said Althaus.
Selina Freitag shocked the German team with a crash in her jump, but fortunately, she didn't suffer any injuries, apart from a swollen lip.

The third place went to Slovenia's Ema Klinec: "The conditions were really difficult today with the wind and the rain. But I want to thank the organizers and everyone involved that this competition could take place today. Hopefully, the conditions will be better tomorrow and I can also jump better than today. I had big problems with my right ski during my jump, if I would have had this I would have been able to fight for the win", Klinec said.

Josephine Pagnier (FRA) and Frida Westman (SWE) achieved top results today in sixth and tenth, it was a career-best for both of them.

The second women's competition in Willingen starts on Sunday at 10 am CET.
