In scorching heat, the traditional event held in the middle of August saw 69 competitors from 18 nations at start.

The best in today’s qualification was Nika Kriznar. With the jump of 97 metres, Slovenian came ahead of her team mate Ursa Bogataj, who won all three Grand Prix events held this summer. Third was Japanese Sara Takanashi, who due to ankle problems had to withdraw from the event in Courchevel (FRA) held the previous weekend.

Place six went to Russian Irina Avvakumova, for whom this was the thirst appearance this summer. Surprisingly good performance was shown by Canadian Abigail Strate who was ranked 8th in today’s qualification.

In the absence of the best Austrians, who decided to take a break from competition this week, Japanese Nozomi Maruyama was strong again in 4th. Place 5th went to the best Norwegian Silje Opseth. Ema Klinec completed a strong result for Slovenia in 7th. Germans Juliane Seyfarth and Katharina Althaus finished 9th and 10th

After more than one year break, Chinese athletes returned to international competition on the highest level. Coached by legendary Finnish Mika Kojonkoski two of them qualified for tomorrow’s competition - Qinqyue Peng was 36th, Liangyao Wang 39th.

The competition in Frenstat will be held on Sunday at 10.30 CET.
