Women shall get to ski fly
Apr 13, 2022·Ski JumpingThe FIS Sub-Committee voted in favor of allowing the women to ski fly on the Ski Flying hill in Vikersund next winter. After a long discussion, the committee agreed on that in today's meeting.
"We all agreed to open this door for the women. There are still many concerns and fears regarding safety and so on, but the time is right and we want the women to start on a Ski Flying hill." It was a clear decision with 14:0 votes.
The women's premiere shall not be a World Cup competition, because the number of participants will be limited compared to a World Cup event. Most likely, the 15 best athletes of the Raw Air overall ranking will be allowed to ski fly on the Monsterbakken in Vikersund in the final event of the Raw Air 2023. The minimum age of the athletes shall be 18.
The proposal will be presented to the Ski Jumping Committee on May 9th and has to be confirmed then.
