Eva Pinkelnig wins the qualification in Lillehammer

Eva Pinkelnig won the women's ski jumping qualification in Lillehammer in Norway (NOR) on Friday. Abigail Strate from Canada was second and Eirin Maria Kvandal (NOR) third.
Selina Freitag (GER) and Katharina Althaus (GER) finished fourth and fifth.

"I am really satisfied with my jumps, my first jumps on the snow this winter. I love winter, I am winter athlete by heart and here in Lillehammer we have it in 100%. I am definitely ready for tomorrow. “
Pinkelnig won already two training trials before the qualification.

Nordic Event in Lillehammer
Olympiapark in Lillehammer hosts this weekend not only the Women’s Ski Jumping World Cup but also cross country and Nordic combine’ events. It is the first event this winter in Women’s World Cup, which is taking place on the snow hill. Opening season in Wisla was made in the hybrid model where athletes jumped on the ice tracks and plastic mats.

Come back for Eirin Maria Kvandal
Almost 21 months after her last World Cup appearance, Eirin Maria Kvandal from Norway jumped to third place with 91 meters and 112.3 points, celebrating a successful return from serious knee injury.

Debut for 14-year-old Norwegian Midtskogen
While local hero Maren Lundby had to settle for 22nd place on her home hill, Nora Midtsundstad, as sixth team member, had to fight a bit more and finished 37th. The World Cup debut came today to 14-year-old Ingvild Synnoeve Midtskogen. With the 40th place she was the only jumper from the four woman national group of Norwegian women.
