Three winners in two days in Ruka

At the second FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in Ruka (FIN) Norway's Halvor Egner Granerud and Stefan Kraft from Austria provided the final highlight of the weekend in Ruka with a joint victory after a high-class competition. Third place was surprisingly taken by Japan's Naoki Nakamura.

After his low due to disqualification on Saturday, Halvor Egner Granerud already experienced the absolute high today. 
"This feels very good, especially after yesterday which was not good at all. And after it was the second shared victory for me (1. Time Feb. 2022 with Ryoyu Kobayashi in Lahti) I looked right up, I'm in good company with Gregor Schlierenzauer and Ari Pekka Nikkola I'm now the third athlete to share victory twice."

Stefan Kraft (first place) was the outstanding man of the weekend

Stefan Kraft was the outstanding man of the weekend after finishing second yesterday (behind Anze Lanisek) with his victory today.
"It was not easy to jump today, but my jumps were really very very good, especially in the stem area it worked well, that was still something on my to do list from yesterday."

Kraft had made 82 podiums in the World Cup before the Ruka weekend but had never finished on the podium in Ruka. It was Kraft's first win of the season after 2 x Kubacki in Wisla and Anze Lanisek in Ruka yesterday.

Naoki Nakamura (1st career podium finish): "This is one of my favourite hills because it's a bit bigger. It's almost like ski flying here! Yesterday I made some mistakes in the first run. In the qualification I was on 5th place and was a bit over-motivated. Today the wind was a bit tricky, but I was mentally stronger and that helped me to make two good jumps. Ryoyu told me to stay calm and that's what I did".

Andreas Wellinger (7th place after 17th place in DG 1): That was a clear improvement today. The qualification in the morning was already good, the second run was really good, there was a nice pressure at the top of the edge and then it was easier to fly.

Andreas Widhölzl (Coach AUT): It was a very good weekend for us, especially of course for Stefan Kraft. The whole team was strong today, we are very satisfied with this performance. We will now train here in Ruka for two more days, because there is no possibility in Central Europe at the moment.

Stefan Horngacher (Coach GER): We are on the right track, three people among the best 10, that fits. Unfortunately Karl Geiger and Stephan Leyhe could not repeat their top jumps from the qualification today in the competition.

Dawid Kubacki (6th place, leading after DG1): "I felt good, it didn't cause me any problems that the start times were so early. I am just a bit pissed off because I could have achieved a better result today, my second jump was just not good today, I made it too complicated".

Karl Geiger (33rd place, missed the final): The qualifying jump to 148 metres was still extremely cool. In the competition the jump was unfortunately not good anymore, then the field is extremely close together and then you fall out. That's annoying, but it's still going in the right direction.

In the overall World Cup Dawid Kubacki is still in the lead, now with 290 points ahead of the day's winner Stefan Kraft 285 and Anze Lanisek (SLO / 236 points).

The World Cup continues for the men in a fortnight in (Titisee-Neustadt), the women have their next World Cup in Lillehammer (NORI) next weekend.
