The Slovenian Domen Prevc had to wait five years after his last success in Vikersund in 2019 until he finally managed another World Cup victory at the second World Cup of the weekend in Sapporo (JPN). In bright sunshine, Domen Prevc beat local hero Ryoyu Kobayashi and Norway's Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal on the 137-meter Okurayama ski jump in Sapporo .

"I love this hill here in Sapporo, it actually went well for me the whole weekend. Especially the three jumps today, of course," Prevc was delighted with his success, and continued: "It's a great feeling to know that I can make it to the top again. But the most important thing now is that I stay focused on the essentials in the coming weeks," said Prevc.

Jumps of 136.5 and 139.5 meters (273.6 points) secured Prevc the day's victory ahead of local hero Ryoyu Kobayashi (133 and 139 meters / 269.8 points).

It was Prevc's sixth World Cup victory in total, his first since 2019 (Vikersund); Prevc had won the first four in succession at the start of the 2016 season.

For Ryoyu Kobayashi, the day's result meant second place for the ninth time this season. Kobayashi had achieved four of his second places in the Four Hills Tournament, which then also gave him overall victory in the Four Hills Tournament without winning a day.

For Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal, third place meant the second podium of his career. Sundal had already finished third two weeks ago in Willingen.

Stefan Kraft, Manuel Fettner and Jan Hoerl in places 4 - 6 once again ensured a top team result for the team from Austria.Behind them were Ren Nikaido, Peter Prevc Lovro Kos and Benjamin Oestvold, the four of them completing the top 10 of the second day in Sapporo.

The best DSV athlete was Karl Geiger in 12th place, Andreas Wellinger had to be satisfied with 16th place. Stefan Kraft continues to lead the overall World Cup with 1386 points ahead of Ryoyu Kobayashi (1181 points) and Andreas Wellinger with 1102 points.

The Ski Jumping World Cup continues next weekend with the ski flying competition in Oberstdorf (GER). Three competitions (2 individual and one super team) are on the program in Oberstdorf.
