Competition in Oberstdorf for Eva Pinkelnig, 2 Nights Tour for Nika Prevc
Jan 01, 2024·Ski JumpingEva Pinkelnig won the second competition of the Two-Nights Tour in Oberstdorf on New Year's Day with jumps of 132.5 and 129 meters and 272.1 points. Second place and thus the best World Cup result went to Abigail Strate from Canada with 131 and 128.5 meters and 269.4 points. Third place was tied with Norway's Eirin Maria Kvandal (131.5 and 127 m) and Pinkelnig's teammate Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (129.5 and 126 m) with 261.6 points each.
Nika Prevc took fifth place as the best Slovenian, ahead of Strate's compatriot Alexandria Loutitt and Ema Klinec, who gained seven positions in the final on the way to seventh place. Yuki Ito was the eighth best Japanese woman. Agnes Reisch was the best German in eleventh place and was disqualified in Garmisch-Partenkirchen because her suit was too big. At her home competition in Oberstdorf, the B-squad athlete equaled her best World Cup result. Apart from her, only Selina Freitag ended up in the top 15 in 13th place. World Cup Leader - Josephine Pagnier finished 12th.
Katharina Schmid had to struggle with the take-off timing in both rounds and with a lot of tailwind in the second jump and couldn't get past 16th place. Pauline Heßler was 20th place after the missing the competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Juliane Seyfarth and Anna Rupprecht also scored points in 25th and 26th place. The same applied to ÖSV jumper Chiara Kreuzer, who came 21st. The Frenchwoman Emma Chervet finished 29th and earned her first World Cup points and thus her lifelong World Cup right to compete.
The victory in the two-nights classification and prize money of 10,000 euros went to Nika Prevc. Eva Pinkelnig and Abigail Strate secured second place and 5,000 as well as third place and 3,000 euros.
