Eva Pinkelnig won first, very snowy competition in Sapporo with distances of 115.5 and 119.5 meters and 195.7 points. Jenny Rautionaho from Finland came second with jumps of 115 and 120 meters and 193.3 points. Third place went to Eirin Maria Kvandal from Norway, who finished on 116 and 121.5 meters and 192.5 points.

"It was very chaotic here, but the Japanese did everything they could to make it possible for us to jump today. I really didn't expect to win here. Yesterday I was too early and too late at times and just tried to do my best. That's why I'm very happy about the win," said the Austrian after her eleventh World Cup victory. There were two top ten places for the hosts in the person of Sara Takanashi and Yuki Ito in fourth and fifth place.

The same was also achieved by Norway thanks to sixth-placed Silje Opseth, Austria with Jacqueline Seifriedsberger in eighth place and Slovenia with Ema Klinec and Nika Prevc, who both only received their own jumping equipment for the competition and were supplied by fellow competitors in the qualification. Katharina Schmid, who achieved her best result of the season in seventh place, was also the best German in the top ten. Luisa Görlich, Juliane Seyfarth and Selina Freitag finished in a solid midfield in 15th, 18th and 20th respectively.

Sara Marita Kramer was the third best Austrian in eleventh place, while Chiara Kreuzer finished 13th, the highest position she has achieved this season. Julia Mühlbacher finished 16th, while Lisa Eder got into the most difficult phase of the second run and dropped from 15th to 29th. Meanwhile, Qi Liu from China, Haruka Iwasa from Japan and Jessica Malsiner from Italy scored their first points of the season in 21st, 23rd and 28th place respectively.

After yesterday's qualification was postponed to today because ten athletes were without jumping equipment, at least four of them were able to start today. Sophie Sorschag from Kosovo was the only one not to qualify in 51st place. The two Romanians Delia Anamaria Folea and Daniela Haralambie, as well as the Slovenian Nika Kriznar and the three Canadians Nicole Maurer, Abigail Strate and Alexandria Loutitt waited for their luggage to arrive in time for the qualification. Shortly before the competition, however, they did receive their items so that they can start tomorrow.
