Busy schedule awaits Ski Jumping’s best as they take on Oslo and Vikersund competitions
Mar 12, 2025·Ski JumpingFresh off a two-time gold medal-winning performance at the 2025 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, Nika Prevc (SLO) is looking to push on and extend her winning ways as the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup season continues in Oslo and Vikersund (NOR) this week.
A busy schedule awaits the world’s best Ski Jumpers (male and female), with an individual Large Hill competition in Oslo on Thursday before they head to Vikersund for Flying Hill events on Saturday and Sunday.
Prevc can claim career-second Crystal Globe
Defending Crystal Globe champion and current World Cup leader Prevc has a total of 1533 points in the overall World Cup standings, 455 points ahead of nearest rival Katharina Schmid (GER).
The Slovenian will need just 45 points from the remainder of the season to successfully defend the title she claimed in 2024/24 and can secure the Crystal Globe in Oslo on Thursday.
Her latest success, which made her the first woman in history to win the Normal and Large Hill gold medals at the World Championships last week, showed she’s still in top form.
With 11 World Cup wins so far this season, Prevc is again the one to beat.
Others aiming for the podium include respective world individual Normal Hill silver and bronze medalists Selina Freitag (GER) and Anna Odine Stroem (NOR).
Besides Stroem, another ski jumper looking for success on home snow will be Eirin Maria Kvandal, who has won two World Cups this season.
Jacqueline Seifriedsberger, Eva Pinkelnig, Lisa Eder (all AUT) and Alexandria Loutitt (CAN) are also in the mix for a podium spot.
World Cup leader Tschofenig looks to land on top again
On the men’s side, World Cup leader Daniel Tschofenig (AUT) will aim to land on top of the podium again after missing out on an individual medal at the 2025 World Championships.
Tschofenig, who has won eight World Cup events so far this season, is among the favorites for a win in Oslo and Vikersund.
While Tschofenig hopes to bounce back from a disappointing individual World championships appearance, World Large Hill champion Domen Prevc (SLO) is looking to build on his World Championships success.
Prevc dominated the Large Hill event at the 2025 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim, Norway, to claim his second gold at the event after winning gold as part of the Slovenian Men’s Team Large Hill quartet which defended their World title from the 2023 World Championships in Planica (SLO).
Other favorites include 2025 World Normal Hill silver and bronze medalist Andreas Wellinger (GER) and Jan Hoerl (AUT), as well as Stefan Kraft (AUT), Gregor Deschwanden (SUI) and Ryoyu Kobayashi (JPN).
Prevc’s teammate Timi Zajc (SLO) is among the contenders in the Flying Hill events this week, after winning the first Flying Hill World Cup of the season in Obertsdorf, Germany, in January.
