Pawel Wasek from Poland has celebrated his second victory in 24 hours at the FIS Grand Prix in Rasnov (ROU). Wasek secured victory in a thrilling final ahead of Japan's Ren Nikaido and Italy's Alex Insam. The battle for the yellow bib of the FIS Grand Prix leader is also extremely exciting: Insam is just ahead of Wasek.

Rasnov also experienced bright sunshine, 20°C and good competition conditions on the third Grand Prix day. The previous day's winner Pawel Wasek, who had to cope with the pressure of being the favorite for the first time today, did an excellent job once again.

Wasek led after the first round ahead of Alex Insam and Ren Nikaido. In the final jump, both then put the Pole under pressure with good jumps, but Wasek countered confidently and secured the day's victory by a narrow 1.1 points ahead of Nikaido and 2.4 points ahead of Insam.

“Of course, expectations were high after yesterday's victory, but I managed to stay focused and the pressure didn't really bother me. This hill here in Rasnov suits me well, I've already achieved good results here in the past and with the two victories yesterday and today, this has of course become a special hill for me.
Now I'm looking forward to the competitions in Hinzenbach next weekend, which will be an exciting battle for the yellow bib,” explained Wasek.

Grand Prix leader Alex Insam was happy about the Grand Prix lead, but the Italian was still not completely satisfied. “The results were great and riding home from here with the yellow bib is perfect, no question about it. But I'm still not completely satisfied with my performance, in the finale today I wanted too much, I went out too fast and lost meters in the end. With his victory today, Pawel has caught up in the overall standings, which will be really exciting in the coming competitions,” said a delighted Insam, who, together with Lara Malsiner and Annika Sieff, completed an incredible weekend from an Italian perspective.
Ulrich Wohlgenannt was once again the best Austrian in fourth place; on Saturday Wohlgenannt had shone with second place. Andrew Urlaub provided the next top result for the US team in fifth place, directly behind Urlaub the two Poles Jakub Wolny and Kacper Juroszek delivered a convincing performance.

The two Frenchmen Jules Chervet and Ari Repellin shared 9th place with the same number of points - the next top result for the team from France.

Next up for the ski jumpers are two FIS Grand Prix competitions in Hinzenbach (AUT) next weekend.
