Austria's Eva Pinkelnig crashed in a training session in Seefeld (AUT) on Wednesday and had to undergo surgery in Innsbruck that same evening.
According to Dr. Peter Baumgartl, the team doctor of the Austrian Ski Association, she ruptured her spleen. The emergency surgery was successful.

"Eva was training on the small hill in Seefeld. There she fell at the landing and sustained a splenic rupture. Our assistant coach Romed Moroder was on site. Fortunately, the emergency care worked perfectly and Eva had surgery on the same day. Right now it remains unclear when she will be able to return to competitive sports. First and foremost, it's now important that she recovers completed and then we'll see from there", explained head coach Harald Rodlauer.

At this point, it's not possible to make any predictions about the course of the physical and mental recovery of the silver medalist of the World Championships in Seefeld 2019 and the third of last season's overall World Cup.
