Until the 2016-17 season, Bansko was only known as a World Cup venue for alpine skiing events. But by hosting a spectacular and thrilling snowboard cross sprint event at its debut as a FIS Snowboard World Cup host, the Bulgarian resort set the bar high for this form of SBX racing also becoming the second ever Bulgarian FIS Snowbard World Cup host since a big air event went down in Sofia back in 2007.

Not to forget that Bansko also provided one of the best ever event weekends for the raceboard athletes last winter when the double parallel event turned out to be true snowboard festival in front of a stellar crowd.

And thousands of spectators can be expected again this winter when racers return to the Pirin Mountains for one parallel slalom, one parallel giant slalom and one snowboard cross event each staged from January 26 to 28, 2017.

VENUE SITE

Located in the Pirin Mountains Bansko offers a total of 48 km of slopes which can be accessed with 14 lifts.

The most slopes address intermediate riders as well as total beginners. Advanced riders will also get their share although only 8% of the whole area are marked as difficult. However, Bansko also provides some great freeride opportunities at Todorka Mountain.
