Carolin Langenhorst announces retirement from snowboard racing

Carolin Langenhorst, a World Cup winner and accomplished raceboarder, has announced her retirement from competitive snowboarding. After a one-year break from the World Cup circuit, the 28-year-old has decided to hang up her snowboard to focus on her studies in primary education.

Throughout her career, Langenhorst achieved remarkable success, standing on the World Cup podium four times and representing her country in two Olympic Games. Her greatest achievement came in 2023 in Scuol, Switzerland, where she secured her first and only World Cup victory.

Reflecting on her decision, Langenhorst said, "University or snowboarding? I had two wonderful paths to choose from. Ultimately, I decided to pursue my studies and leave competitive snowboarding behind. The decision matured over the past year as I focused entirely on my education. However, I will always remain connected to snowboarding and am grateful for everything I’ve experienced throughout my sports career."

Sport Director Andreas Scheid expressed his support, stating, "As a sport director, you never want to lose an athlete with podium potential. But I’ve known Caro since she took her first snowboard turns in Berchtesgaden, and I’m confident she made the right decision. So, all that’s left to say is: Congratulations on your successful career, dear Caro, and all the best for the future!"
