Tim Watter's Olympic dreams have been shattered by an accident.

The Swiss racer has torn his Achilles tendon during the qualifiers for the Montafon World Cup last weekend. Going through the final turn, Watter noticed a painful stroke in his left foot.

Team doctor Stefan Fröhlich then diagnosed the bad news which equaled an early season's end and missing the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games. It would have been Watter's second Olympic Games after placing 21st in Sochi back in 2014.

“Everything went so quick from pain to diagnose, I still need some time to realise it. But I'm very sad and disappointed as I won't have the chance to showcase my skills and joy for the sport I love next February,” he said hoping to being able to ride unfettered again after having undergone surgery and through the long months of rehab.
