With the Olympic hype having petered out, it's time for the riders to get back into their World Cup rhythm again.

From 2 to 3 March, 2018, La Molina, Spain is set to host the tenth of twelve snowboard cross races of the 2017-18 season and therefore one of the last chances to move upwards in the SBX World Cup rankings.

The top spot of the standings, however, are currently owned by 2018 Olympic Champions Michela Moioli (ITA) and Pierre Vaultier (FRA) who both are looking strong to defend their lead against the chasing pack.

Moioli, like Vaultier the winner of last year's boarder cross race on the Alabaus slope, sits in first with a total of 6,630 points and therefore comfortably ahead of the French trio Chloe Trespeuch (5,600), Charlotte Bankes (5,000) and Nelly Moenne Loccoz (4,740). But as the 22-year-old from Bergamo has made it in the top-3 in the last eight World Cup races, it will be very hard for the rest to prevent the dominating athlete of the women's tour from earning her career's second title since 2016.

In the men's event, things are looking even better for Vaultier who has accumulated 6,120 points so far.

The 30-year-old seems to be unstoppable on his mission to bring home his career's sixth crystal globe. If the defending champion can hold Alex Pullin (AUS; 4,376) and Alessandro Haemmerle (AUT; 3,840) on distance again this weekend, Vaultier would make a big step towards a possible title three-peat.

And Vaultier has the momentum on his side as he not only descended on Spain with the confidence of having earned back-to-back Olympic titles but also with the backing of having placed either second or first in the last five World Cup races.

The qualifiers are scheduled for 2 March 2018 at 11:00 CET with the finals slated to take place on 3 March 2018 at 11:00 CET.
