One month to go: Countdown to 2019/20 SBX season starts now
Nov 11, 2019·Snowboard CrossToday marks one month to go before the first competition phase of the 2019/20 FIS Snowboard Cross season takes to the slopes of Montafon (AUT), where qualification runs are set to get out of the gate on December 11, 2019, ahead of the first race of the season on December 13.
Dating back to the 2012/13 season, Montafon is the second longest-running stop on the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup after Veysonnaz (AUT), and is reknowned as much for its excellent competition venue as it is for the atmosphere and celebrations that surround the event.
While the Montafon competition was cancelled in 2018/19 due to a lack of snow at the resort, recent snowfall and below-freezing temps suitable for snowmaking are encouraging signs for this season.
Along with the season opener in Montafon and the season finale in Veysonnaz, the 2019/20 SBX World Cup season will see stops in Cervinia (ITA), Big White (CAN), Feldberg (GER), and Sierra Nevada (ESP).
In the coming weeks we'll have a full and in-depth season preview, along with much more, as we enter into what's shaping up to be another thrilling season of snowboard cross action this winter.
