South American Cup SBX Recap: Corralco (CHI)

This past Sunday, Corralco, Chile played host to a thrilling back-to-back snowboardcross competition as part of the Brazilian Snowboard Championships. The South American Cup event showcased some of the up-and-coming talents in the sport, with athletes from eight different countries battling it out for top honors.

Women's Event:

In the first race, Kennedy Justinen (CAN) showcased her prowess, clinching the top spot, followed closely by Runa Suzuki (JPN) in second and Meryeta Odine (CAN) securing third. The second event saw a repeat performance from Justinen and Suzuki, claiming first and second places respectively. Bridget Maclean (CAN) made her mark, finishing in a commendable third position.

Men's Event:

The men's competition was equally intense. Kai Hooper (CAN) dominated the first race, with Noah Bethonico (BRA) and Zion Bethonico (BRA) finishing in second and third places respectively. The second race witnessed a stellar performance from Noah Bethonico, who surged to the top, followed by Kenshin Kiyota (JPN) in second. Zion Bethonico continued his consistent performance, securing the third spot once again.

With the successful conclusion of the South American Cup at Corralco, the cross course is buzzing with anticipation. As the final weeks of the Chilean winter approach, numerous national teams are expected to descend upon Corralco. The course, with its challenging layout and top-notch facilities, is set to be the ideal training ground for athletes gearing up for the 2023/24 World Cup season.
