Athletes' favourite World Cup stop to return
Aug 31, 2018·Snowboard Park & PipeOn November 11, 2017, Big Air and the City will return to Milan, Italy and with it the event of the Snowboard Freestyle World Cup tour athletes ranked number one last year.
No wonder as more than 20,000 spectators and a deep and strong line-up had made the inaugural edition of the festival right next to the iconic Tree of Life one to never forget.
FIS Race Director Roberto Moresi said: “Big Air Milan’s first edition exceeded everyone’s expectations. I think the conditions are all there for Milan to go one step further in 2017 and to become a capital of our sport in the future: Big Air Milan has the potential to win the hearts of the fans and to become a classic of the calendar.”
The Italy-born FIS Official also underlined the importance of the venue where universal expo had been staged two years ago.
“Expo 2015 has probably been one of the most attended and photographed events in the world: competing in Milan is the best way in Italy to promote our sport. We are well aware that bringing snow into the city represents a great effort for the organizer, but last year the Big Air Competition committee proved to live up to the challenge.”
Compared to last year and with the Road to PyeongChang turning in on the home stretch, the 2017 Big Air Milan is of even more importance.
“There’s a lot of interest in the event”, explains Moresi. “The athletes are up for qualification points in order to take part in the Olympic Winter Games. But everyone is hoping to win in Milan, especially after last year’s spectacle. We will have a thrilling weekend.”
While qualifiers are scheduled for Friday, November 10, the finals are slated to take place on Saturday, November 11. Fore more details on the programme click .
