How things can change over quite some time. After originally being a Viking fishing village founded in the 10th century, Copenhagen became the capital of Denmark in the 15th century.

And just a few hundred years later, Copenhagen is also the first centre stage of the 2017-18 Big Air World Cup season which will feature a total of six stops of which five are counting as Olympic qualifier events.

That said, the most populous city of Denmark will also become the first Danish city to host a FIS Snowboard World Cup in the contest series' long history.

Bringing the show to the people on November 4, 2017, might also help to give the local snowboard community a boost after the last Danish rider in the top-10 of any FIS Snowboard World Cup event was Julie Lundholdt at the Lech SBX back in 2010 (10th).

In fact, the last podium dates back even longer as Mike Kildevaeld was the last to make it in the top-3 winning the Parallel Slalom World Cup in Sestriere, Italy back in 1997.

While it's a long way for the Danish community back to the top, Local Organisers are definitely at it as the venue promises to become one of the most iconic ones on tour.

With the competition taking place in the old shipyard and INSIDE the B&W Halls, it will be the first time since the 2011 Big Air World Championships event that a 50 metres scaffolding jump will be build indoors.

The ramp therefore equals the height of the famous Copenhagen Cathedral tower at “Vor Frue Cathedral”.

Above that, a rail set-up just outside of the building will serve as platform for the first Copenhagen Streetfighter Battle while several music artists will round out the two-day festival which also features FIS Freestyle Skiing action on Friday night.

Tickets can be ordered here.
