Weeks after having been awarded best female action sports athlete at the ESPYs, reigning big air World Champion Anna Gasser (AUT) is one of ten nominees for the 2017 Sportswoman of the Year Award presented by Women's Sports Foundation.

Gasser, who turned 26 yesterday, will go head to head with Heather Bergsma (USA/Speed Skating), Inna Deriglazova (RUS/Fencing), Katie Ledecky (USA/Swimming), Tatyana McFadden (USA/Paralympic Track & Field), Evgenia Medvedeva (RUS/Figure Skating), Becca Meyers (USA/Paralympic Swimming), So Yeon Ryu (KOR/Golf), Mikaela Shiffrin (USA/Alpine Skiing) and Elaine Thompson (JAM/Track & Field).

“It's definitely an honour to be named together with some of the world's best sports women. The nomination is also a recognition of my last season's achievements”, said Gasser who has meanwhile returned to on-snow training in Australia after having injured her left tibial plateau in Japan a few days ago.

Athletes were considered for this year’s award based on their athletic achievements between August 22, 2016 and July 31, 2017.

The voting will conclude 11:59 PM EST, August 27, 2017.

The winners will be determined by a combination of a public vote (50%) and the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Awards Committee’s vote (50%).

The winners will be the two athletes – one individual finalist and one team finalist – who receive the highest combined share of the public vote and the Awards Committee’s vote.
