Impressive big air structure takes shape

And with the construction work already in prcocess - basically the best sign that the Jamboree presented by Vidéotron Mobile is just around the corner - Quebec City is getting ready to host the 12th edition of this famous event slated to take place from February 9 - 12, 2017.

By February 7, all the construction, snow coverage and site setup work will be completed, giving athletes the opportunity to train ahead of the grand final on Saturday, February 11 and spectators the chance to enjoy four days of Jamboree festivities.

About the FIS Big Air World Cup

  •   9th edition of the Big Air at L’Îlot Fleurie in downtown Quebec City (started in 2009)

  •   The biggest Big Air in Canada

  •   About as natural as a Big Air ramp can be

  •   One of the only Big Airs on the World Cup tour integrating the natural environment into the ramp structure, so less scaffolding is needed

  •   40 metres (131 feet) high and 91 metres (300 feet) long

  •   Start ramp 6.1 metres (20 feet) wide

  •   Jump 3.6 metres (12 feet) high, 6.1 metres (20 feet) wide and 12.40 metres (41 feet) long

  •   250,000 lbs = weight of the structure, not including snow

  •   10,000 cubic feet of snow needed for the structure

  •   Crew of more than 50 people hard at work for 10 weeks
