LAAX OPEN Slopestyle cancelled
Aug 31, 2018·Snowboard Park & PipeDue to the ongoing bad weather situation with snow fall, gusty side winds and low visibility at Crap Sogn Gion event organisers have been forced to cancel the Slopestyle World Cup of the LAAX OPEN 2018.
Since Tuesday, officials had been doing everything they could to get the event done but unfortunately Mother Nature did not let up.
Today, after the men's slopestyle got cancelled at first, organisers waited for a window to open to at least run the women's finals which seemed to be the case around noon but incoming fog from the valley dashed everyone's hopes again right before the first lady was about to drop in.
“A big thank you to the LAAX OPEN organisers, park crew and volunteers who worked so hard. We tried everything we could but the weather did not cooperate,” said FIS Contest Director Park & Pipe Roberto Moresi.
The LAAX OPEN will conclude tomorrow with the halfpipe competition. Finals are slated for 13:00 CET with several TV stations broadcasting the contest live. A full update on the broadcaster list can be found here.
