Three-week training break for Gasser
Aug 31, 2018·Snowboard Park & PipeBig air world champion Anna Gasser has suffered a knee injury and is sidelined from action for the next couple of weeks.
The incident occurred during an indoor training session in Toyama, Japan, when the 2017 Snowboard Freestyle Overall World Cup winner didn't land a trick properly and bruised her left tibial plateau.
Back in Austria, a medical team was able to clear up the fear of a possible ligament injury.
After a break of three weeks, the 25-year-old will head down under to make camp in Cardrona, New Zealand, where the new World Cup season gets underway with a slopestyle event on September 3 and 4, 2017.
However, it's unclear right now, if the Millstadt resident will be able to attend the season's opener.
“On one hand, it's a bummer that I lose some precious training time in Japan and Australia where I wanted to prepare for the World Cup opener. On the other hand, I'm happy that the injury isn't as bad as expected at first, and that I'm able to ride again soon.
My decision if I compete in Cardrona will be based on how my knee is feeling after the long training break,” said Gasser.
