The 2019 Australia New Zealand Cup season continued this week with slopestyle action taking place at the Spy Optics NZ Freestyle Open Rookie Fest in Cardrona (NZL), where qualifications went down on Wednesday and a weather-shortened finals took place on Thursday.

Men's competition saw a strong mix of World Cup riders and up-and-comers squaring off on the Cardrona slopestyle course, with 15-year-old Su Yiming of China topping the field with an impressive score of 94.00. Even more impressive is the fact that Su's win came against the likes of established World Cup riders such as second place Hiroake Kunitake (JPN), third place Markus Olimstad (NOR), and forth overall finisher Fridtjof Tischendorf (NOR), in the Chinese rider's first-ever competition of this caliber.

While the men's finals was able to be completed before the heavy winds really kicked up, the ladies' event was not so lucky, meaning that results from Wednesday's qualifications would have to stand in as the final results. Rina Yoshika of Japan would end up in top spot with a score of 87.67, followed by her teammate Hikari Yoshizawa in second, and Hanne Eilertsen in third.
