2021 FIS Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski JWSC to be held in Krasnoyarsk (RUS)

The organizing committee of Krasnoyarsk (RUS) recently confirmed to stage the 2021 FIS Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski Junior World Championships with all of its competitions at one venue from March 18-28, 2021.
This is excellent news for the up and coming young athletes of the Freestyle Ski, Snowboard and Freeski world indeed, as Krasnoyarsk is no stranger to hosting big winter sports events.
The 29th edition of the Winter Universiade was already held at the Sopka Cluster venue in Krasnoyarsk from March 1 to 11, 2019.
More than 1,700 of the world’s best university student-athletes competed on 11 days of the bi-annual event. The FIS disciplines of Alpine Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing, Freestyle Skiing and Snowboard were staged as part of the line-up in Russia.
The Sports Complex includes 7 sports venues and 5 courses intended for snowboard and ski Slopestyle, Ski Cross, as well as courses for Aerials, Moguls, Ski Halfpipe and Parallel Snowboard disciplines. In terms of equipment and technological level, this is the second project of this kind in Russia and the only one in the eastern part of Russia.
As for the upcoming JWSC, a total of 17 competitions will be held in the course of eight days and medals are up for grab at the following disciplines:
Ski and Snowboard Slopestyle
Ski and Snowboard Halfpipe
Ski and Snowboard Big Air
Aerials including a team event
Moguls
Dual Moguls
Ski und Snowboard Cross including team events for both
Snowboard PGS
Snowboard Parallel Slalom and a Parallel Team Event
The events for Moguls, Aerials and Halfpipe will have a special touch, as they will be held as night events under the flood lights of the Sopka Cluster venue.
The organizing committee is doing their best work to have a Covid-19 safety measure plan in place, which will ensure the health and safety of all athletes and team members attending the event, which is the highest priority for both FIS and the OC.
“We are very happy that the organizers of Krasnoyarsk decided to hold all Junior World Championship competitions at one venue. There had been discussions to spread the various disciplines around a couple of venues, but it was then decided that everybody, especially the athletes, would benefit most from the single-venue setting. The organizing committee is in full preparation mode and I am convinced we will see a fantastic, as well as safe, major event for our young athletes come March 2021. We would like to thank the organizers of Krasnojarsk 2021 for their hard work and big efforts to make this Junior World Champs possible,” Peter Krogoll, FIS Assistant Race Director for Snowboard, comments.
The competition program for all sports will be published as soon as it will be finalized and confirmed by all stakeholders involved.
