Jul 09, 2020·Snowboard Park & PipeThis is it!
We're closing out our #ClassicsLive throwback series today by turning to the halfpipe, where we'll throw it back to the 2008/09 season and the Bardonecchia (ITA) World Cup.
With its excellent pipe and prime location just above the picturesque local village, Bardonecchia was a standout stop on the FIS Snowboard World Cup from 2004 to 2011, and the list of riders to hit the podium there in Italy features some of the best to drop in on a halfpipe.
One only need look to the ladies podium to see that the 2008/09 edition is a prime example of this, as the legend Kelly Clark earned one of her 13 World Cup victories while leading a US sweep of the women's podium, with her teammates Hannah Teter and Gretchen Bleiler rounding out the podium in second and third, respectively.
Over on the men's side of things it was French great Mathieu Crepel who would take top spot, besting Nate Johnstone (AUS) and and future Olympic champ Iouri Podlatchikov (RUS) in the process.
There's a stack of other amazing rippers in both the women's and men's finals as well, but that's enough time spent talking about the competitions. Take a trip back in time and relive all the action by hitting that ol' play button below now...
