December 20, 2014 marked a a crucial date in FIS Snowboard World Cup history, as for the first time ever the world's top female riders would join the men in World Cup big air competition, while also beginning the process that would eventually lead to the competition's inclusion in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

A special date requires a suitably special venue, and this competition featured one of the most interesting ones ever seen on the FIS World Cup, as we took the show on the road to one of the easternmost corners of Europe - and one of the most important localations in the history of civilization - setting up the giant scaffold ramp in Istanbul, Turkey.

There, a huge and enthusiastic crowd was treated to a standout competition, with the USA's Ty Walker making history with the women's victory and Belgium's Seppe Smits claiming the second World Cup win of his career. Meanwhile the likes of Sina Candrian (SUI) AND Cheryl Maas (NED) would also feature  on the women's side, while Jonas Boesiger (SUI), Brandon Davis (USA), Ryan Stassel (USA) Petja Piiroinen (FIN) and a slew of others on the men's side would throw down strong performances in finals.

But hey, why read about it when you can watch it, right? Revisit the World Cup Big Air Istanbul now, in this week's #ClassicsLive throwback...
