Monday Mix - May 31, 2021

It's a bit tough to believe, but it's already been two months since the end of the 2020/21 World Cup season in Silvaplana, and as soon as the clock flips over to midnight wherever you are it is officially June. Over here we can't even believe it's already been a week since the last Monday Mix. But, sure enough, that's what it says on the face of this old phone screen, which mean's it's time again to bring you a little look-see around the net for what's being going on in the world of shred over the past few days.

This week we're starting with a sort of ending, as Max Parrot leaves us with one last on-snow nugget to nibble on before he takes some time off of the board to enjoy the summertime shtuff. Per usual, it's a casual doozy...

Max's compatriot Laurie Blouin freakin' loves spring shredding, and we do too. All you need are the five S's and you've got yourself a guaranteed great day: Snowboard + Sun + Softsnow + Squad + Shirt (Hawaiian). Shaka, brah!

You know who else loves soft snow and spring shredding? Moritz Boll, because almost any other time of year this one-and-a-half backie wouldn't be nearly as funny/low consequence...

Bonus points for not losing the shades at any point in that clip, Moritz.

Speaking of shades - no good pilot would ever be caught on camera without a fresh pair of glare-blockers on, and Scotty James was no exception to that rule last week when he took a seat in the cockpit of a King Air B200. Apparently boosting 6-ish metres out of a halfpipe a few thousand times every season isn't quite enough airtime for Mr. James and now he's out here flying planes for that amplitude fix...

Rejoining Scotty on the ground upon landing back in Switzlerland and we find him...dropping five backflips in a row in the park? 2021 and life's still weird, man...

Let's bring things fully back down to earth now with Dario Caveizel and some of the purest high-speed slush slashing you're likely to lay eyes on this spring...

A post shared by Dario Caviezel (@dariocaviezel)

Dario's Swiss teammate Julie Zogg said, "Hey Dario, nice turns, but have you tried doing it with your shirt off?" and then she went and ripped some nice turns with her shirt off. Fire and ice!

This is an old post that's a throwback to an even older post, but we just came across it and watching Alessandro Haemmerle drop a quick flip mid-run in a hectic section on the Audi Nines cross course is gonna be worth another look any day of the week, month, or year...

More SBX news, as over the weekend we ran our weekly poll looking for your favourite women's and men's photofinishes of the season. For the women it was Pia Zerkhold vs Chloe Trespeuch in the team event at Idre Fjall earning your vote, while on the men's side of things it was Mr. Haemmerle himself in his heat vs. Lucas Eguibar in the men's World Champs gold medal battle taking the win. The full clips from each of those photofinish battles will be going live later this week!

Valentino Guseli took a minute out of his busy schedule a few days ago to remind us that he's the world record holder for the biggest-ever halfpipe air. This probably isn't going to stop being mind-blowing anytime soon...

Here's the video, just in case you somehow missed this insanity the first time around...

Storyline time: Valentino put down that record-setter in Laax. Laax is a second home to a lot of international pipe rippers. Queralt Castellet is one of those international pipe rippers who calls Laax her second home. Queralt recently put out a two-minute clip recapping her 2020/21 season. Below, we have embedded that clip.

(See how we tied that all together there? Impressive, we know...)

Hot off the presses courtesy of Japan supercoach Lee Ponzio - three minutes of Reira Iwabuchi pure crushing it at Absolut Park...

Not to be outdone, Reira's teammate Miyabi Onitsuka was over in Mammoth stacking some footy of her own, including what looks like a pretty insane back 12 into the airbag. The Japanese girls are still bringing it hard into spring 2021...

How about a little Jan Scherrer now, just vibing in Crans Montana?

Salomon dropped a sweet little edit last week, with Sven Thorgren hosting his US homies Judd Henkes and Dusty Henricksen at his home resort in Klappen. "Clappin' in Klappen" is live now and well worth a few minutes of your attention...

Dusty is now back Stateside and doing his thing in the skatepark. Smoothest steeze in the game, on snow or on concrete...

We'll end the Mix off for today with some workout #inspo to get you through the week, courtesy of Jake Vedder. All you need for this one is a pickup truck and somewhere to push it around. Just maybe make sure there aren't any major hills lurking close by, because this could turn into high-stakes sprint training pretty fast if you set the truck up in the wrong location...
