As the winter winds sweep through Edmonton, anticipation builds for the second annual FIS Style Experience Snowboard Big Air World Cup at Commonwealth Stadium on December 9. This year, the event promises an even more thrilling spectacle with an enhanced setup, a stellar line-up of athletes, and an electrifying atmosphere that is sure to captivate snowboarding enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

Revamped Ramp and Enhanced Spectator Experience

Say goodbye to last year's right-angled jump as crews unveil a massive ramp, towering 16 feet higher and strategically positioned on the curved portion of the stadium. Over 2,000 cubic meters of snow, transported from Rabbit Hill, transforms the venue into a breathtaking winter landscape. The new orientation not only elevates the scale of the jumps but also promises an immersive viewing experience for spectators.

Shredmonton Beckons – Bigger and Better!

Shredmonton eagerly awaits the most thrilling winter event of the year, featuring lifestyle activations, action sports demos, and live performances by Grandson and SkiiTour. Following last year's success, which drew over 15,000 attendees, Canada Snowboard is determined to make this year's FIS Style Experience grander, ensuring a day filled with adrenaline and awe.

International Showdown: Su Yiming vs. Valentino Guseli

A major highlight of this year's event is the much-anticipated showdown between two snowboarding titans – Su Yiming from China and defending champion Valentino Guseli. Fresh off a spectacular victory in Beijing, Su Yiming will face off against Guseli in an epic battle of skill and style. The competition between these two athletes is expected to set the snow-covered stage on fire, adding an extra layer of excitement to an already thrilling event.

International Flair – The Japanese Team

Adding an international flair to the competition, the Japanese snowboarding team is poised for greatness. With Ryoma Kimata securing a second-place finish last week and Kira Kimura claiming third, and with Hiroto Ogiwara, Kimura and Takeru Otsuka sweeping the Big Air Chur podium to open the season, the Japanese contingent brings a stacked lineup. On the women's side, watch out for Reira Iwabuchi, who finished third last year at the Style Experience Snowboard Big Air World Cup, as she aims for another strong performance on the biggest scaffolding jump ever built.
