Trillevallen Telemark World Cup – a spectacular return to Sweden
Feb 13, 2025·TelemarkFor the first time since 2014, the Telemark World Cup returned to Sweden, marking a historic debut for Trillevallen as a host venue. Over two days (7-8 February), the Swedish resort delivered an unforgettable edition of the World Cup Sprint races, blending high-level competition with the region's deep telemark heritage.
The Sweden Telemark team and local organizers put together an event that celebrated the essence of the sport. With the backdrop of Trillevallen’s majestic and untamed landscape, athletes embraced the challenge of a course that demanded technical mastery. Among them, Swedish skiers Alvin and Vile Noaksson—both raised in the area—brought local pride to the start gate, while former World Cup racer Sandra Landén played a key role in the organizing efforts.
With an electric atmosphere, Nordic spirit, and top-tier racing, the World Cup in Trillevallen had all the ingredients for success. Each morning, the moonset over nearby Åre framed the scene for a thrilling competition. The course itself was a spectacle—particularly the jump, where men had to clear 20 meters, creating a breathtaking "flying to the moon" moment. The loom section proved highly technical, challenging racers to maintain balance at full speed.
Reflecting on the event, Sandra Landén added: "I feel immense joy and a real ‘can-do’ attitude knowing we delivered an event that so many appreciated. Seeing the passion and dedication of everyone involved gives me so much energy."
When the right people come together in the right place at the right time, telemark magic happens.
Chaucheprat delivers a stunning double victory
Laly Chaucheprat (FRA) delivered her most dominant performance of the season, winning both Sprint races in style. Known for her technical prowess on the jump, the Trillevallen course suited her perfectly.
In the first race, Goril Strøm Eriksen (NOR) secured second place, with Camille Bourbon (FRA) in third and Jasmin Taylor (GBR) just off the podium in fourth. The second day saw Argeline Tan Bouquet (FRA) take second, followed by Taylor in third and Bourbon in fourth.
Chaucheprat was elated with her results: "Winning was a big goal this season, but I didn’t expect to take the first race. That victory gave me the confidence to push for the double! The conditions were excellent, and I loved the steep sections, the speed before the jump, and the fantastic landing slope. Plus, the atmosphere here in Trillevallen is just incredible! Huge thanks to the organizers for their amazing work—my family loved watching the races live!"
Swiss junior Léa Lathion set the fastest time in the first run of the second Sprint race but fell in the final run, showcasing the fine margins that define telemark racing. The icy sections also proved tricky for several racers, highlighting the sport’s delicate balance between precision and risk.
Chaucheprat’s victories propelled her into the top three of the overall World Cup standings, while Taylor and Tan Bouquet remain in first and second, respectively.

Loeken, Michel imperial, Page back in the mix
Nicolas Michel (SUI) stormed to victory in the first Sprint race with two flawless runs, taking the win ahead of Trym Nygaard Loeken (NOR) in second and Yoann Rostolan (FRA) in third. Jacob Alveberg (NOR) finished fourth, with home favorite Olle Collberg (SWE) rounding out the top five.
The second day looked set for a Swiss double, with Michel leading after the first run. However, like his teammate Léa Lathion, he fell in the icy section, opening the door for Loeken to claim victory. Alexis Page (FRA) secured his first podium of the season in second, followed by Charly Petex (FRA) in third. Collberg finished fourth, and Rostolan took fifth. Page’s result signals a potential shake-up in the French team dynamics, as he looks to challenge teammates Rostolan and Petex in upcoming races.
Loeken praised the event: "I'm really impressed with the organizers—pulling this off with so little snow and for their first World Cup is amazing. Big applause to Sandra, Olle, and all the volunteers!"
Loeken strengthened his lead in both the overall and Sprint standings, with Michel remaining in second place in both. For the French team, Petex holds third in the Sprint rankings, while Rostolan sits third overall, just ahead of Page.

A tribute to the organizers and volunteers
The Trillevallen World Cup was more than just a competition—it was a celebration of telemark skiing and the community that makes it possible. Sandra Landén expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those involved:"I feel enormous gratitude for all the organizers who create the conditions for us to compete in the sports we love. Without volunteers, there is no sport, and without sport, public health suffers. It’s a win-win situation we must continue to support. I’m thankful for all the memories from my time as a national team skier and the opportunities to travel the world with others who share a passion for telemark skiing. Setting goals creates a drive that benefits you throughout life. Bästa hälsningar från Trillevallen!"
A huge thank you to all the volunteers, organizers, and wonderful people in Sweden who made this magical World Cup stage possible.
