The Rundown - August 28, 2021
Aug 28, 2021·Freeski Park & PipeThe last Saturday in August, which means September is right around the corner. September means the start of autumn, the start of autumn means the snow starts flying in the north, and flying snow means we're flying back towards a new World Cup season. And THAT, friends, feels pretty exciting right now.
All of that being said, it's still pretty hot out there in a lot of places. Time to cool it down with your weekly collection of freestyle and freeski fun from the social media pipelines, here at the Rundown.
You know when it's summer it's sticky hot out and you're way overdressed and you're riding a hoverboard and you see a body of water somewhere along the way and you imagine how much better your day would be if you were able to just throw yourself into that water and please, please let me go for a swim right now this is horrible...?
Andri Ragettli knows that feeling, and he is not afraid to do something about it.
Alright, we know that one's a couple weeks old, but Andri stuck to the same theme on Twitter the other day. The only problem with this one is that, while the man himself is chilled out after a lake dip, the rest of us have to deal with those hot abs...
Alright enough of that, let's get down to snow business here. Cody Laplante was reminiscing about chillier times yesterday, and he's got us feeling all sentimental for the shred now too. Make sure you click through for the both-ways switch 14s, or check out our IG where we poached them for your viewing convenience. Thanks Cody!
If you're lookin' for fresh footy, it's still happening in the Alps right now. Example A? Tyler Harding getting after it in Saas Fee...
Or Guilia Tanno, making her return to snow this week after a big ol' arm break back in February at X Games. Super pumped to see GT back on the sticks...
As a matter of fact, looks like most of the Swiss team is on site there in Zermatt and getting after it. Here's Colin Willi bringing the sunnyslushpartyvibes...
And here's little bro Thierry working on some wild butter variations off the hip...
Back to Saas Fee and back to switch 14s, this time from Fearless Finn Kuura Koivisto...
Javi Lliso walking that fine line of keeping it simple and hyping the people up, all at the same time. Style for miles...
If we're being real here though, there's not a tonne of fresh shred action happening on snow right now. Luckily for you, there's water ramps, airbags and pump tracks!
Here's Canada's Lewis Irving sending it to the absolute moon down in Utah, where it appears the US team has been nice enough to welcome the northern invaders for a training camp...
Not to be outdone, Lloyd Wallace dropped a little moon shot of his own just the other day...
Fanny Smith unofficially announced that she's training to join the Swiss SBX team for the 2022/23 season with this pumptrack clip...
Cancel that. Looks like she'll be sticking to ski cross...
We've said it before and we'll say it again, the Kazakhstan squad has one of the prettiest water ramps in the world...
Air bags...we need some air bag content here...
Oh, how about Fabien Boesch gettin' weird (we know, he's always getting weird) out in Sweden for some reason?
Ok, with that out of the way, let's check in on the news...
First up, it sounds like Beau-James Wells is retiring from competitive halfpipe skiing, which is obviously a bigtime bummer. If there's ever an award category for "Best freeskier never to land on a World Cup podium," Beau-James Wells is number one.

Another day, another haute couture crossover for Eileen Gu. This time it's none other than LV Louis Vuitton she's partnering up with. THE GIRL DOES NOT STOP. Respect.
Is this news? It was international dog day last week, which means we got to see some cute pups.
Here's Kelly Sildaru and her husky. Google tells us that having two different coloured eyes is called "heterochromia." Now you know!
Britt Cox and her good guy Doug bring good guy vibes...
And, of course, one of the most famous dogs in ski history - Gus Kenworthy's Birdie, who he rescued back in 2014 after the Sochi Olympic Winte Games...
Alright, we're going to wrap things up this week with 60-seconds of madness courtesy of Sam Baumgartner. Maybe NSFW? It's tough to tell what's going on here, but it sure is entertaining...
Have a sunny weekend, everybody, and we'll see you here next week!
