Once again this year, after weeks of training at the World Cup course in Idre Fjäll, the moguls athletes had a perfect opportunity to test their form while competing in back-to-back FIS Open competitions this past weekend.

With more than 100 registered athletes from seven different nations, the event in Sweden was without a doubt a top-notch show with some of top World Cup athletes taking part in their first competition of the season with just two more weeks until the first World Cup of 2022/23 in Ruka.

In the women’s field we could see the likes of Olivia Giaccio or Tess Johnsons, while over on the men’s side you could spot even more World Cup top guns like Ludvig Fjallstrom (SWE), Albin Holmgren (SWE), Nick Page (USA) and Cole McDonald (USA).

“It was a good competition weekend. Overall, the slope and the competition arena were good and all riders and teams seemed happy. Then there was a bit of fog from the snow cannons which made it a bit difficult on Saturday, but otherwise it went well,” said Martin Westbladh from Idre Fjäll.

In Saturday’s competition it was the US team that put as many as nine riders into top-10 in women’s event with Olivia Giaccio taking first place and Alli Macuga following up in second. Tess Johnson rounded out the women’s podium in third place.

In the men’s event Nick Page (USA) led the pack, finishing the day ahead of second Ludvig Fjallstrom (SWE) and third Cole McDonald (CAN).

Moving to Sunday’s second competition Kasey Hogg (USA) took the win to lead another US sweep on the women’s side of competition, ahead of second Kylie Kariotis and third Skylar Slettene.

Over on the men’s side it was Ludvig Fjallstrom, who finished off the weekend strong and backed up his second place from the previous day with a victory on Sunday. Filip finished in second place, with Rasmus Stagfeld completing the podium in third place.
